Allied Merchants Buying Association (AMBA) is a group of leading Independent Building Materials, Timber, Plumbing, Hardware, Agri Trade, Fuel, Garden and Homeware Retailers working together to enhance our business through the development and deployment of coordinated negotiation of prices and terms in conjunction with our supplier partners.
Formed in 2011 we have grown to 20 members with 118 stores nationwide. Allied Merchants Buying Association is managed to benefit member stores by making them more profitable. We focus on making a profit for members, not from them.
The purpose of our progressive group is strengthening the buying power of members whilst not losing the entrepreneurial spirit of the independent market. Members keep control of their business with the support of a member focused group created to improve profitability through structured purchasing. By organising together as a single group, we are in a stronger position to negotiate with suppliers of goods and services on behalf of members. We are dedicated to improving members profitability at the lowest possible cost to members and this is achieved by securing the best prices and terms on selected product categories common to our members, and to make easily accessible to our members, the very best deals on products on the Irish market.
We run with a minimal yet highly professional administrative structure and our Board, Sub-Committees & Category Managers are composed of store owners, store managers and specialist buyers within members stores who are responsible for negotiating and approving all supplier matters on behalf of Allied Merchants Buying Association. All of our members are involved in Category Management, therefore the people negotiating terms on behalf of Allied Merchants Buying Association are improving terms for their own businesses and for that of all other members. Our team of Category Managers have extensive experience and are at the forefront of what is happening in the marketplace and this background gives them a rare perspective on the business and a strong commitment to delivering the right product at the right price to members.
Our members collectively improve profitability and opportunities for their individual business, whilst providing an efficient route to market for suppliers. We enhance relationships and opportunities between our members and suppliers and actively encourage those relationships and this direct and efficient conduit between suppliers and our members puts suppliers in a unique position. Because of our efficiency, flexibility and low cost, we are committed to offering suppliers levy free trading, increased volume and market share and geographical spread through our strategically placed members.
